Is it just me?

The film started out pretty well, minus some absurd dialog from supposedly intelligent men(Doctor: "If its occupying the same space, than why can't I feel it?!"), but by the time George builds a fire by the sphinx I had begun to nod off. This film was pretty bad. I actually prefer the newer one even though it was nothing like the book.

The first time I actually saw this movie was during its theatrical run, so it didn't have present filming/CGI technology to possibly affect my liking/disliking the picture. I much prefer the original as I experienced both, but had I seen them back-to-back for the first time, I cannot say for certain that I would prefer the original over the 2002 version.

Rest in peace, Roger Ebert. You were the best.

I disagree that the dialog was absurd.

Remember that this was the 1960s, and concepts familiar to us from ensuing science fiction had barely been mentioned to cinema-goers at the time. So that scene had the task of educating the audience in broad strokes in the idea of Time as a 4th dimension, and do it well enough that they would grasp the physical concept enough that later scenes (for instance, the lava) would make sense for them.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

This film is great, far superior to the 2002 one.

agreed. The 60 version if far better that the 2002 one.

It's just you.
