So, it was filmed on the Island of Tobago... anybody ever visit there??

You find out on the special edition 2-disc DVD version that they filmed the movie on the Island of Tobago (of Trinidad and Tobago) and that they just left the "Treehouse" there on the island intact (after filming) where it apparently lasted for a while (years?) until a hurricane came along at some point.

Has anyone ever visited there... and if so, would there be any other locations in the film that could still be visited today (for instance, the swimming hole where they swing back and forth on the vines... or the mountain defense at the end of the movie)?? Or, even the beach location where they originally land...

Would anyone on Tobago remember where any of the movie locations were shot??

I'm from the Caribbean, living in St. Vincent, saw this movie on Sunday night on TCM and really enjoyed it. Not sure if any place is still intact where they filmed maybe a tourist guide or map for Tobago might tell you or mention locations for this movie.

I lived in Trinidad and Tobago for a year and never heard of this, nor heard anyone mention. Beautiful place to visit though.

I went there on business and checked out what they were advertising for sightseeing - no mention of it being the location for the filming. It is a beautiful place anyway.

I have lived in Trinidad my whole life (38 years) and have actually never been to that part of Tobago, so not sure of the locations, but one part, where Fritz and Ernst come ashore the first time, looks like Pigeon's Point and No Man's Land on the other side of the island from Bacolet (which imdb lists as the main location)

Best keep this quiet or Sandals might build a SFR-themed resort there.

My father was from Trinidad, and he was fond of mentioning that SFR was filmed on neighboring Tobago. We visited T&T when I was a young teen and spent a few days on Tobago. We stayed in Crown Point, near the airport; that's one of the main tourist spots.

One day we did a driving tour of the island, and although I'm sure that spots where the movie was filmed were pointed out, such as Mt. Irvine Bay, which is up the coast a bit from Crown Point, I didn't really pay too much attention although I had seen SFR by then. My parents were probably more interested in that.

My clearest memory of Tobago was from one afternoon when I walked up to the airport--I was mad about planes in those days--because in an adjacent field were a few old junked planes just lying around. Two local boys showed up, and we spent a few hours climbing through them and shooting the breeze.

I wouldn't mind going back. Tobago was quite lovely. Trinidad is nice too, but Tobago is a real Caribbean dream.
