Peter Ustinov story

Peter Ustinov told a story about when he was relaxing off set with Charles Laughton. At the time studio tours were in vogue and two Southern ladies spotted the two actors. They approached and proceeded to gush over Laughton.. "Oh My - we are so thrilled to meet you - you are just the best of all the actors - we love you" Laughton was chuffed and replied "One does ones best". Then one of the ladies said "Your performance as Big Daddy was just the best we ever say". With that they left. Laughton was crestfallen and deeply depressed that they had confused him with another actor. Ustinov said to Laughton - "Charles dont be so depressed - it could be worse" Laughton replied "WHAT could be worse" to which Ustinov responded "Well - they could realise their mistake and come back" With that the two ladies returned - "Oh my god - Oh my what must you think of us Sir - YOU ARE EVERY BIT AS GOOD AS BURL IVES" .
