RE-casting Elmer Gantry

There are only two clear choices for the role of Elmer Gantry, Robin Williams, or Daniel Day Lewis. They could breath life into this fire and brimstone role.

BTW Steve Martin's Leap of Faith was a modern take on this 1927 tale.

Richard Rossi was awesome in the role on Broadway and in the film "Sister Aimee: The Aimee Semple McPherson Story." According to L.A. Times, he's playing Gantry in the remake.

William Jefferson Clinton...and he wouldn't have to act.

Daniel Day-Lewis or Russell Crowe, I know, everyone says Day-Lewis all the time in "re-cast" threads, but he is that good.

And Russell Crowe has a Burt Lancaster vibe. Well, at least when he keeps his weight in check.

For me the best choice is Hugh Jackman. He has a similar demeanor and can apply the key "theatrically-dramatic macho" characteristic in his acting, which I don't find many actors today can. Another that comes to mind is Tom Hardy but i'm quite set on Jackman
