Is she? Who she played?
Yes. She doesn't have a huge part, but she's in one or two scenes playing herself.
shareWas she like already famous for modeling and stuff?
Or this is what make her known?
I don't know how famous she was, but she had been modelling for a while and had been in a couple of movies before this one.
Wikipedia says:
After appearing in several television advertisements, Nico got a small role in Alberto Lattuada's film La Tempesta (1958). She also appeared in Rudolph Maté's For the First Time, with Mario Lanza, later that year.
In 1959, she was invited to the set of Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita, where she attracted the attention of the acclaimed director, who gave her a minor role in the film as herself. By this time, she was living in New York and taking acting classes with Lee Strasberg.[4]
Also from Wikipedia:
Discovered at 16 by photographer Herbert Tobias while both were working at a KaDeWe fashion show in Berlin, Tobias christened 'Nico' with her adopted name, which she used for most of her life. Tobias named her this after his friend, filmmaker Nikos Papatakis. She soon moved to Paris and began working for Vogue, Tempo, Vie Nuove, Mascotte Spettacolo, Camera, Elle, and other fashion magazines. At age 17, she was contracted by Coco Chanel to promote their products, but she fled to New York City and abandoned the job. Through her travels, she learned to speak English, Spanish, and French.
At one point in La Dolce Vita, she also claims to be speaking Eskimo. That might be a joke, though.
shareI just watched the movie for the first time tonight, and being a huge Nico fan (you might question why I haven't seen it before) I was pleasantly surprised to see her screen time extend what I thought it would. I thought it would just be a couple of seconds.
As mentioned earlier she's playing herself, sort of. They sometimes refer to her as Nicolina, which Nico was not short for. Nico's real name was Christa Päffgen, and she was given the name Nico by photographer Herbert Tobias, after the Greek filmmaker Nikos Papatakis. They also in the film say that she's Swedish, which I guess we all know isn't correct.
