Other movies that aged this badly? Ciao.

I can see why a bunch of war-weary Americans, most of whom had never been to Europe, would be fascinated by this in 1960, but it sure aged badly. The only thing scandalous about it is how boring & inconsequential most of it is. Well, I guess you could call it a scandal that it is so true & yet people still behave this way or "aspire" to live this way.

The two-ships-passing relationship of Marcello & his father makes its point. Frankie-the-Pan & Sylvia still entertain & the final scene where he cannot comprehend the pure, innocent girl makes an impact. But, beyond that? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Ciao, Marcello. Avere una vita.

IMO only dumb people get bored.

war-weary Americans

In 1960, what war would they be weary of?

Korean War ended in 1953.

Take your pick. America needs at least one war every decade.

America needs at least one war every decade.

If so, America would be the opposite of "war-weary" in 1960. They would be war-mongering and spoiling for a new fight. Again: In 1960, what war would they be tired of?

The original poster either flunked history or is still in elementary school.
