Doesn't Frankie already look like a Will Farell character? You could have used Pam Anderson or someone like that for Anita Eckberg. Can't you just visualize it? It would be hilarious. I guess the average SNL watcher might not get it or find it funny though. But who knows. That's what Mike Meyers thought about Sprockets...

There WAS an SNL parody of this film...it was a filmed segment directed by Tom Schiller in (I think) 1978. It was called La Dolce Gilda, and it's really funny. You might be able to find it on YouTube.
