L'Avventura or La Dolce Vita

Personally I like La Dolce Vita more, but both are great movies with similar messages. What do you guys think?

reply

Both are excellent, but I prefer L'Avventura.

All the people who pick one film "better" than another are just plain dumb.

I think they can be considered as the presentations/statements of what the two directors have to say about life and about humanity. i wouldn't go as far to compare them.
however i personally enjoyed La Dolce Vita a bit more because i don't feel as down and sad as L'avventura after the viewing. I felt that there's hope in the end of la dolce vita whereas l'avventura gave me the feeling that everything in the end is a burden and nothing is real and really wasn't worth pursuing for.
i wouldn't really think about watching l'avventura again until sometime later. maybe that was what you're suppose to feel.

That's a really, really, really stupid statement.

I don't think the messages are that similar, but I just saw L'Avventura yesterday night and I still pick La Dolce Vita over it, same as you.

It's hard because they're so different, but I think I would have to say La Dolce Vita even though I love both movies sooo much.

Just saw L'avventura, I'm going to have to give to La Dolce Vita. But I'll be surprised when I find a film with a better amount of pretty shot compositions than L'Avventura

La Dolce Vita for me, but L'Avventura has better cinematography. Heck I dunno if you can beat that cinematography. I think I may have to move it up on my list the more I think about it. It's just that I got really tired out before Anna was actually missing, so those breathtaking shots end up feeling like your looking at paintings all day which makes the eyes lazy.

Marcello v. Monica, Marcello is better for me, but o man is Vitti brilliant.

La Dolce Vita, easily -- for me, at least.
