Flipping through the channels, I caught this on TCM last night and kept watching. I didn't catch the last bit after "WW4" starts and was hoping someone can post the details on what happened after the gun battle begins? Thx.
shareWell both Belafonte and Ferrer have guns and fire at each other. Then Belafonte sees the words of Isaiah 2:4 on a wall monument:
"and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
Belafonte suddenly becomes the "bigger man", throws his rifle to the ground and openly walks the street, defenseless. When Ferrer encounters him, Ferrer fires and misses Belafonte. Belafonte then says "Its over. Throw away the gun". Ferrer points it at Belafonte and says "if you were only afraid I could kill you" and then Ferrer throws his the rifle to the ground. Suddenly Inger Steven arrives on the scene, takes Belefonte by the hand and then she takes Ferrer by the hand. The three then slowly walk into the sunset together.
The movie is about to end and the caption says in bold letters, "THE BEGINNING".
I recorded the whole movie on dvd.

I saw it a long time ago and forgot exactly how it ended.
