Any Australian actors in the production?
Even in small roles? The 2000 TV remake featured Bryan Brown and Rachel Ward.

shareI think some of the naval crew members were played by Australians.

4) You ever seen Superman $#$# his pants? Case closed.
I suppose that in 1959 Australian actors were largely unknown by American audiences, with the exceptions of Rod Taylor and Errol Flynn, and few thought of Flynn as an Aussie, anyway.

John Meillon was in it and I believe that he was an Aussie.
Yes, he appeared in Wake In Fright, which I saw recently for the first time.
shareJohn Meillon was in it and I believe that he was an Aussie. He was the Sawfish crewman Ralph Swain (who swam ashore in San Francisco). Many may remember him as Crocodile Dundee's Australian manager/agent in the movies. He was also the father who lost the plot in Walkabout.🐭 share

Antonia Murphy, Lynne from the Aussie soap, Sons and Daughters, was in an early scene of the 2000 remake as a dinner guest.
Love is never having to say you're sober.
The actress who played Hosgood I think is an Aussie. She appears to have starred in mostly Australian productions, so I assume she is from there.
shareWhen Moira marches up to the boat, one of the supposedly American sailors says "Get a load of the Charley Weeller" in a distinct Aussie accent.
shareHas anyone else seen the superb 1986 film Death of a Soldier? It was filmed Down Under and one of the American officers aboard the sub looks like the president of the court-martial (law officer) in DOAS.
I looked it up and the actor in DOAS is Australian actor Brian Adams, but I don't see him in the cast list for OTB, nor is OTB in Adams' filmography. I don't think that he had a speaking role in OTB, but it certainly looks like the same man in both films.
