That is the low-budget 1977 Spanish adaptation starring Kenneth More as the professor. Halfway through the journey the party bump into an enigmatic scientist (Jack Taylor) whose presence down there is never explained, and in a rather eerie and totally out-of-place sequence they glimpse a futuristic city there in the depths of the earth, seemingly populated exclusively by clones of their mysterious new companion. Again there is no explanation as to how such a place comes to be. A very poorly scripted film with tons of plot holes and rather disappointing in my opinion.
