I saw this 1/1/1960
I was 8 and I went with my older brother and my Dad to the old Paramount in Times Square on New Years day , a few weeks after it opened . Those monsters scared the crap out of me.

shareSo did I!
At the Rialto downtown los angeles!
At about the same time I saw it in Brooklyn! I can still remember the awesomeness of the experience. I was 7 and my dad took me. Just a few weeks later I began to go to the movies by myself. My first solo outing was Darby O'Gill! I also saw South Pacific in the Times Square area - I think at the Rivoli. Also around that time Ben-Hur, North By Northwest, and Sleeping Beauty - that was at the Criterion in Times Square! Quite a time in my young life!!!
shareTwo thumbs up New Yorker!
shareYeah, I saw it when I was a kid too. It's one of those things that stays in your memory, especially if you see it for the first time when you're a child.
When I watched it on dvd just now it was a very great treat to revel in the joyous fantasy of childhood, one more time.
Nearly the same experience. We lived on the West coast, so I bet it was weeks after your viewing. Saw it with my dad, one of my favorite movies as a kid. I still get a kick out of watching it.
