My mother's favorite and now mine.

I first watched this movie with my mother when I was a teen. Well, I was more like forced to watch it. Of course, I complained and never admitted to my mother that I did wind up liking it. Now that I'm 40 and my mother is suffering with cancer and knowing this movie is one of her favorites, it's even more special. Today was the first time I got to watch it in it's entirety, missing bits and pieces over the years (and just plain forgetting the movie), catching it almost at it's ending most times it's been aired...it is simply one of the greats. Lana Turner, Juanita Moore and John Gavin are magnificent! My mom and I are planning a great big dinner and watching this together once again.

And the end just tears my heart apart, sob like a baby every single time.
