Why did Peter give Anne a kiss?
The parts where Peter kisses Anne always gets me confused. Why does he do it?

You kidding? A guy in his late teens with two nice looking gals to just "think about" for a couple of years in the solitude of his room? Let's just say I think he really missed his kitty cat and just had to GET SOME.
shareI'm happy if it did happen. Everyone wants to be loved and remember when you were young how you dreamed of your first kiss. In view of the horrendous life they had been living and what was to come, they needed this. My son died when he was in his teens. I am really happy to know that he knew what love felt like and that he did have a kiss that meant so much to him.
shareNo where in the diary or anywhere else is there proof of a Peter/Anne relationship. The whole love story in the movie was something Hollywood glamourized I believe. If it had of been made today, it likely would have been more then just a couple of kisses. We know there was one kiss since that's all the diary says but that's it though.
shareIt's been many years since I read the book, but I seem to remember Anne and Peter having multiple makeout sessions. Can anyone back me up on this?
shareYes, they did kiss a few times.
Anne and Peter DID have a brief relationship in the Annex towards the end of their time there - I want to say late 1943-early 1944 but I'd have to go back and double check.
Keep in mind, yes, they were teens, and their options at the time were very limited, and while it's clear they may not ever have been suited for each other in a long term sense prior to the war, who knows how their experiences in the camps may have altered things and if they'd both survived? Who knows?
By the time they were found and arrested, Anne believed that she "loved" Peter only because he was the only teenage boy in her life, and it wasn't real love.
shareHe was very attracted to Anne and he liked her too.
