Why is the Anne used for the title of the book when her name is Anna as everyone in the film refers to her as? I haven't read the book but I plan too now as I'm interested in what really happened to everyone involved.
"Gentlemen, This is a War Room, There's no fighting allowed in Here!"
It's still spelled "Anne" but the E was not silent. So it sounded more like "Anna" or "Annie". It is similar to how some people pronounce Frank differently: as "Fraynk" or "Fronk".

Anne Frank was German by birth. Anne was actually a nickname, her full name was Annelies Marie Frank. "Annelies" may have been a Dutch spelling, because normally in German it would be Anneliese, with a final E.
In German, the final E in any word or name is never silent. The name Anne is pronounced Anna, and Anneliese is Ahna-LEEZA.
