Does anyone know what happened to Alok Chakravarty, the beautiful and heartbreaking actor who played Apu's son Kajal? According to IMDB he never made another movie.

No. But I was amazed to learn that he was NOT the real son (or brother) of the actress who played his wife. They look so much alike!

the casting was brilliant - one look at that kid and immediately your heartstrings are tugged.
