17.7% of voters gave this a 1?
It's so odd. Pather Panchali and Aparajito don't have anywhere near as many 1s, and this is hardly a notorious or controversial film. I just wonder where these votes came from.

It was included in a time magazine top 100 list in 05'. The 1's may have come from people who were referred to the film from the list without prior knowledge of the other two films. Film geeks can be quite harsh when someone else tells them something is brilliant, I can see how the film may come off as below average if your taking it on its own, but i can't see how anyone could rate this so low after taking the time to watch the whole trilogy.
