I suspect it was for theatrical showings overseas as the feature "Scarface Mob". I was pleasantly surprised and pleased that they included this version on the DVD.

Side note back around 1974 we were in MONTREAL and The show was on one night in SEPIA.

Towards the end of the 1970s nostalgia boom, this series was re-released in sepia-tone, with new color wraparounds featuring James Brown in character as Lt. Masters, "telling" each installment's story to a group of children.
