I always have a hard time watching that one. It's one of the few mean-spirited episodes that TZ ever shot. I still don't understand what Beamis did to deserve his fate. Keep in mind that the worst part isn't that he couldn't read any books but couldn't see much of anything. I just imagine this poor fool stumbling around starving to death, unable to forage for food and water.
shareI had the pleasure to watch this on the big screen a few months back for the Twilight Zone: A 60th Anniversary Celebration by Fathom Events. Wow, that was quite an experience to watch it in a large empty theater. It was just me and two other people. That episode on the big screen hits you even harder. Knowing that was going to happen just really got to me. I blurted out "Oh, no!" This is such a tragic ending; sort of a sick joke. It is one of my all time favorites, but it is hard to think about his fate after breaking his glasses.
