Amazing movie

People keep comparing it to Spartacus, but this film is very different. Definitely deserves more love. The four leads - Kirk, Tony, Janet and Ernest - gives great performances.

Its a perfect old-school action movie, with a great score, and wonderful Norwegian scenery.

"Spartacus" is a classic story of the human spirit and liberation that is historic, and was well done by Stanley Kubrick. I wouldn't say "The Vikings" is bad, but it is way down there on the list of themes. It is like an adventure fantasy. I don't see it as in the same class as "Spartacus" or anywhere close.

I agree that Spartacus is in a class of its own. No doubt.

This Viking film, though, is seriously fun to watch. A great adventure fantasy, as you call it. Lifted by great performances and a great score.

I noticed one reviewer called it a "swashbuckler". I remember seeing it as a young kid and thinking it was good, but as I got older it seemed simplistic and shallow. That new series "Vikings" seems more accurate, but it had a lot more time and investment, and a lot more history known about it to the writers ... not that they followed it very well.

Yes, viewers need to put aside historical nitpicking & contemporary ideas of "what a movie should be" and simply lose themselves in a rousing good old-fashioned story.
