So where's the Blu-ray?!

What's up with that?

MGM puts out Blu-rays on all sorts of crap, but when it has something as spectacular as this, it's a damn no-go!

Same goes for MGM's 1956 version of Moby Dick – both spectacular works by top-notch cinematographers that would make stunning Blu-rays.

But no . . . instead we get Beerfest and Pirahana 3DD (accent on the double D).

C'mon, MGM, grow up and get off the dime!

Due out in March, apparently. Long overdue though. I'd like to assume it's getting a new scan etc.

reply

I agree 100%. Although for the record, I actually really liked Beerfest.

And it is currently on sale!

Old master slapped on blu-ray. This could be spectacular if done right (large format + Jack Cardiff!) but this film is probably not famous enough to warrant the cost.

reply

Not famous enough? Lol

Not enough to spend 6 figures on it to do it right on Spartacus level (another Technirama movie). MGM has neither the will nor the money to do it.

reply

I can't wait to get this blu-ray!

reply

Ditto.
