Interesting observations mmathexpert, thanks. I liked it better when I was younger and didn't question the odd plot. Like the wonderful time capsule quality of the film and Bernard Herrmann's fine score. I just wish the story and narration had been better. A lot of detective stories manage to do both, but this one got bogged down with Scotty's personal hangups. It's all just about him in the end.

shareNo problem, we can share different opinions about the film, many do. This one started seemingly as a detective mystery,and ended up as a psychological study.
I like mysteries better, that's all. No mystery here after the flashback and the killer simply drops out of sight,I don't like that, I want him to get caught !
