De Niros 'Capone' ...

Rico Angelo called 'the boys' together for a little party similar to a movie made some decades later, and he beat a guy to death with a truncheon of sorts, as De Niro did with a baseball bat in 'The Untouchables' - something that I thought was original and a 'first' in the kind of explicit portrayal of man to man psychopathic killing.
Yeah, I know, guns, knives, arrows etc. Its just that, to me at least, De Niros 'Capone' in 'The Untouchables' seemed to be some kinda new angle. Obviously the scene was copied from this flick and not as original as I first thought ...

Seems to be the case. I have never seen the Untouchables, but my only guess is that it's director really liked and was inspired by Party Girl, so he took that scene and altered it as a sort of homage.

Exactly my thoughts! And I think the birthday cake scene in Some Like It Hot was inspired here too.

Great observation! It would be interesting to see if the sequence has been used in any previous movie, before Party Girl.
