I Thoroughly Enjoyed This!!

Wow, I'm amazed at how many people are dissing on this film. I guess Griffith is so stereotyped as a comical, dumb, but loveable hillbilly, that nobody wanted to see him do a more dramatic type role. What's funny is I initially avoided this film because I expected it to be just another typical, hackneyed role that he plays in almost everything. I think this film demonstrated that Griffith really does have some acting chops! I dunno, maybe the film's promoters screwed up by suggesting it was another comedy. I found it totally refreshing to see him play a more serious role, and thought he did a great job! Then there's Felicia Farr. Damn, that 1st night he met her in the bar, she was oozing sexuality from every pore! She looked totally hot, and the way she talked, along with her body language. I mean, wow, really blew me away for a movie made in the ultra-conservative 1950's! Bottom line, I really liked the show personally! :o) I gotta admit I'm jealous that old Jack Lemmon married a woman as hot as Felicia was back in the day!

Really, the ONLY reason to watch this movie was Felicia Farr. She DID exude sexuality through the entire movie. What a gorgeous BABE!!

I thought it was good and Griffith did a fine job. You're right, there really wasn't a whole lot of comedy, although I did laugh pretty hard over the head-shaving/hair growth technique used on Griffith and Claude Akins (it seemed like flesh colored caps were put over their hair, but maybe it was my old TV playing tricks on me).

The only thing was that the ending felt like it was missing something. Onionhead finally located his fiancé and the film ended without the two of them discussing how he was reassigned to Greenland. It seemed like their future may have been up in the air, so a conversation about his reassignment and how they would deal with it together would've been nice.

Cheese fries...next time.
