Criterion Collection or Essential Art House DVD?

I wanted to get this film on DVD because I wanted to see one of the influences of Star Wars. I went to the Criterion page for the Hidden Fortress: http://www.criterion.com/films/655 and I saw that there were two versions of it for sale. The first one was the Critierion Collection edition and the other one was Janus Film's Essential Art House DVD edition of the hidden fortress. Which one has better: a. transfer of the film b. special features c. essay d. overall product. It want to find out which version is better before i buy. I don't know when I'll be getting it, but help me get the right edition!

The Criterion version includes an introduction by George Lucas, which I would think would make a difference to you given your interest in "Star Wars". FYI.

Essential Art House are bare-bones, consumer-friendly Criterion discs.... at the price of $25-28.

I have the EAH disc, it's fairly good quality in sound and picture, despite a couple of brief blips in the film print, since the old one was difficult to remaster.

Depends on how much you want the film.... and how much cash you have hanging around.

Now I have three sequels. Ho ho ho.

I would give the Criterion the thumbs up. Pretty bare, but it sounds and looks nice. Plus George Lucas interview...
