Alfonso Bedoya who played the role died just 8 days after filming. Apparently had a heart attack after a night of partying with a woman in Mexico city.

I'm just curious about how people feel about the role. We do not expect much from a 1958 film other than a 2nd tier gofer type employee. Perhaps he smiles just a bit too much.

I thought he was good in the role - very memorable. Good natured, observant and helpful - I'm guessing he was back at the Big Muddy, and perhaps better appreciated, within a week or two of the end of this film.
