What Happened to His First Girlfriend?

My question is what happened to Marlon Brando's character's girlfriend in the movie? Did she end up with the Japanese Actor too of what? Her mother certainly seemed racist, let me re-phrase that, her mother seemed ignorant enough about the Japanese culture or any other culture or race beyond her own anyway. So it couldn't have been easy for that character to just run and fall in love with a Japanese man like that.

That's what I assumed, was she ended up with the Japanese actor.

That was my assumption too. She witnessed the transformative power that love has, by the example of the two main couples. The kabuki actor showed himself to be a perceptive, open-minded & honorable man, even though his artistic field was very traditional. I presume that she ends up with him. For the time that this film was made, it would have been too controversial. So they implied this conclusion rather than show it.

He dragged her off to a shack and they fucked their brains out.

I really didn't get her (Eileen) reaction when Gruver stated to her and her parents that he intended to marry a Japanese girl. Was she feigning being upset by this because she was in front of her parents? She was the one who more or less ended her and Gruver's relationship. She didn't want to be a military wife, and could tell he wasn't really passionate about her. Nor her about him, it seemed. And she already knew he was spending time with Hanogi. If anything it would have seemed like she would have supported him as a friend, recognizing they both care about each other but certainly aren't in love. It seemed odd to me how she acted like she was just dumped.
