why walk?l
This movie took place in is 1953 (year of my birth) and why would they walk for 27 days across Africa when helicopters were available at at time?

shareIt seemed like they had no other option but to walk. Funny, I'm watching this movie now, and I didn't expect anyone to have posted to this board within the last 24 hours.
shareOne reason is that it makes it easier for them to dovetail the stock footage from "Stanley and Livingstone" into the film.
It's pretty clever, but before I knew what they were doing I wondered why Jim Davis was wearing such a swishy outfit.
It's a neat movie trick that Irwin Allen would get great use out of as well. I've heard that he'd raid the Fox vault for stock footage to use with a show like "Time Tunnel" and then have his set man Paul Zastupnevich create costumes and sets to match.
Saved a ton of money!
