how faithful is it to the play?
I want to know because i liked the Shakespeare version.

***SPOILERS***
as a movie, it's pretty good...however, as an adaptation of macbeth, it's very disappointing.
we watched the last 30 minutes in my english class the other day, and i was upset with the results of the ending:
1) lady macbeth's does not die
2) macbeth's character is killed by his own army
3) there is no macduff character
4) there is no mention of the fact that the macbeth character cannot be killed by a man "born of woman"
5) macbeth witnesses lady macbeth washing her hands of the imagined blood
6) macbeth tells his army of the prophecy, something that did not happen in the play or the Polanski film
the scene with the trees rising to the castle, and the scene with the witches are all very effective and well-done though.

correct me if i'm wrong, but from what i remember (which, was 2 days ago), the last scene involving the lady macbeth character was when she was trying to wash the blood from her hands.

They were freaked out because of her hand washing. They never show her (nor imply) that she's dead.
"You've shown your quality sir. The very highest."
First of all this is not supposed to be Macbeth, it's inspired by it. Notice if it credits Shakespeare as the author. It is equally inspired by ancient Japan and other cultural sketches.
