First Music Video

Am I correct in saying that? I remember reading that Jailhouse Rock is credited as the first actual music video...please correct me if I'm wrong and enlighten me otherwise...

"I'm still here, you bastards."

Consdering that the Jailhouse Rock sequence was a scene in a film, not a stand-alone segment, a music video it was not. Try Tony Bennett's Stranger in Paradise promo from 1956 as the first genuine music video.

Gotcha...thanks...

If you think about how music videos now can be film sequences from classic movies Jailhouse Rock is atleast an early and very well known sequence that could be considered one of the pregenitors of pop/rock music videos.

In the context of the film, it is done as a T.V. sequence, and thus could be said to be a music video. Regardless, it's a brilliant sequence. And, yes, the lyrics seem to be a little gay today!

NO! Look up "Soundies" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundies

How about JR being the first 'rock' video, then??
