To kill someone by punching them in the face a few times? It seemed pretty silly to me.

I've heard of people getting punched and then falling back and hitting their heads in such a way that killed them.

If you are referring to the fight between Vince and Hunk, Hunk hit Vince in the throat.

I think he hit him up in the jaw and maybe snapped his neck. (you mean the bar fight scene right?)

In the bar fight, Vince hit the other guy in the throat causing severe damage to his larynx and the guy died of suffocation. Hunk did eactly the same thing to Vince, but Vince survived.
