DVD???

This is one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies of all time. I can't believe this is not on DVD! Does anyone know if or when this will ever be released on DVD? Heck, I remeber about five years ago this movie was played on AMC channel as a major feature, uncut and commercial-free...it was even preceeded by a "making of" documentary about this "ground-breaking" film. This documentary is prime material for a DVD extra feature! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that this movie holds the record for most studio space ever used for the filming of a single movie. The sets were built on enormous scale to help make the illusion of shrinking.

No DVD in sight, sadly. But, let me tell you what IS in sight, A F*CKING REMAKE!!! God-dammit. Fortunetly, this film MAY get released to DVD when the remake comes out in order to promote the remake. It's a 50% chance.

Wayans directing a remake...you've got to be kidding me!?!

It might turn out that the only good thing to come out of the remake will be the release of the original on DVD.

I just hope that the original isn't all but forgotten when the remake comes out.

Damn, double damn. Another remake? This movie came out the same year I was born and it's still perfect. I don't want to see it fixed, or turned into a comedy. Lili Tomlin already tried that and it failed miserably!

When will they learn? Alfie was remade badly. I refuse to discuss Flight of the Phoenix, or Planet of the Apes or Manchurian Candidate.

Thank GOD I had the sence to tape this when it ran on AMC -- and I am now in the process, even as we speak, of burning it to DVD for safekeeping. Didn't get documentary, but I guess you can't have everything, at least the movie is safe.

It's one of the very best 50's "B-Movies" to be sure and it beggars belief that it hasn't got a DVD release yet. It'd be great if someone like Criterion would step up to the plate and release a bells and whistles version. They did a good job with "The Blob" so they're obviously not adverse to genre flicks.

It's kind of sad having to wait for the remake... people will think we wanna buy the DVD just because the remake sparked our interest. I know all kinds of people who couldn't give a crap about the original "King Kong," but when the remake came out, they bought the original and began sputtering about what a classic it was. I'm hoping I don't get seen like this if and when TISM (the original) is released on DVD. I watched this movie religiously with my father when I was a very young boy and haven't seen it again since I was probably six or seven. I really hope the crappy re-hash prompts a DVD release (and nobody goes to see the remake).

I bought the original VCD for under $9 and am extremely pleased with the quality. The only downside is there are are no extras(making of, trailers, etc.). That being said, the VCD set will hold me over nicely until the R1 DVD release. It's definitely worth the investment for any fan looking to have this classic on disc.

I just it watched over the weekend with my son and he thought it was great. It was very cool to watch it with him as the first time I saw was with my dad. I was also happy to realize that time didn't sweeten my memory of this film. Despite it's B movie status, this movie doesn't exhibit any of the cheesiness associated with other movies of it's like. Sadly, I'm quite surethe remake will make up for that.

Universal is dragging their feet on a DVD release though there are (dubs of) versions from other countries on Ebay, etc. Maybe Uni is waiting for the Eddie Murphy version to come out so they can capitalize on it; hello, it may NEVER be out though! But you can see a couple minutes worth of it on the DVD "Attack of the 50 Foot Monster Mania".
