Universal needs to give this film a stand-alone DVD release. Period.

I have no interest in buying the "CLASSIC SCI-FI ULTIMATE COLLECTION" box set that it's currently available in, and this is perhaps one of the top three greatest sci-fi films from the 50's that I've seen (the other two are "The Day The Earth Stood Still" and "Forbidden Planet", respectively).

Region 2 received the film on its own stand-alone DVD, so why can't we (I'm in region 1, by the way)?

And release this on Blu-Ray, with good extras, PLEASE.

I agree completely. I even wrote to Universal to press them but didn't hear back. There is no reason why this isn't on DVD. I have had a hard time even finding it on VHS used at flea markets and the like. My only copy is one that I recorded myself a few years ago when it was on TCM.

They sort of already sell some stand alone copy DVDs, a few months ago I went to a used DVD store and looked at the classics label, and there it was brand new for about $20, I believe. I haven't been there a while, but its still possible its there, of course I can't remember if its a Region 1 DVD though.

OBVIOUSLY

They could even get Richard Matheson (now 83) to do the commentary.

He appears in the special features on the MGM version of The Last Man On Earth.
