Life in a Dollhouse

In the book the shrinking man , scott carey writes a chapter called LIFE IN A DOLLHOUSE. Its a very short section in the book. In the movie, the part where scott is in the dollhouse is even shorter.

I think a huge part of story should occur when scott lives in a dollhouse. Its an absolutely fascinating concept that a man is small enough to live like a doll. I think exploration of a man who is so small that he is forced to live in a dollhouse would be most incredible part of his story. Family and friends now can take scott out of the dollhouse without his approval. He has dangers from creatures and people like never before. Even the littlest people, children, are able to pick him up and perhaps hurt him if they are not careful. Can you imagine what life would be like for this person?

What if it were you? or what if you were lousie carey? How do you think your life would be if you had to live in a dollhouse? Helpless , reliant on others and stuck, unless people you knew were interested in fullfulling your requests and thats unlikely if you are 2 - 3 inches tall. What if you are the woman in lousie careys situation? if your husband or boyfriend were to become the doll in the dollhouse. How would you handle the new situation?

Share the particulars of your situation. Who would you be afraid of ? who would you trust? How would you make do with the new life? Would you make the best of it or would it be too horrible a life for you?

I love the idea of a man living in a dollhouse, now struggling in a world he once had a typical life in.
How do others feel?

If they do a remake of this film, I hope they show how his life changes as he gets smaller. I would like it if they show how Louise is normally shorter than him, then as the days go by, the height difference is getting less and less as he shrinks until one day to his horror, Louise is looking him straight in the eys. Then the next morning they are in bed talking the he stands up, then louise stands up and she's is slightly looking down on him

Life in a dollhouse would be quite grand. I wouldn't care if I was dependent on others as long as someone was willing to help me!

When I was a little girl, I had a friend who had the most magnificent dollhouse, made in England. The detail on it was amazing; little drapes on the windows, upholstered furniture, carpets, and a girl's room w/ a canopy bed, pillows, linens and a fainting couch w/ satin, pink upholstery and pink, satin bolster pillows. There was a baby grand piano in a formal drawing room, w/ an upholstered bench, a sheet music holder and actual sheet music resting on the holder. What a sight to behold! It set my little girl's imagination on fire. The privilege of playing w/ it wasn't enough to satisfy me; for a very long time, my most fervent wish was that I might shrink down to miniature size and live in that most beautiful little house.
