This movie nailed Glenn Beck to a tee.

Not at all. Rhodes was pretty apolitical during his early popularity, and the Cracker Barrel was just a general talk show.
shareYeah.
And, it seems like some folks on either 'side' on this board want to see it as something that could happen/is happening with the 'other' side, but fail to see that it could happen anywhere along the political spectrum.
Hubris.
Anytime people become sheep to a media or other strong public personality and let that do the thinking for them, they risk being swept away by a cult of personality, turning off their own critical thinking, and becoming highly polarized in an us-vs-them type of mentality.
Some folks just fail to recognize it when it happens to *them*.

Denise1234,
Well put! This seems to have happened to people on both ends of the political spectrum. And it seems that the polarized elements have taken over the entire political discussion. Where are the moderates? The fiscally conservative yet socially liberal folks. Or is it that the media just doesn't cover them because it isn't crazy enough to bring viewers, which bring ratings, which bring advertisers, who bring money. Yep, follow the money.
Watch the film "Network" which predicted the morphing of news into political spin / entertainment. No wonder we have Trump as one of our terrible choices in November. Politics seem to have turned into a television reality show. I also understand the public reaction to the political elites who live inside their own political bubble....far removed from the public they purport to serve. It's all just a power game to them. I fear for our country, no matter who wins.
Network is the Glenn Beck movie. The Howard Beale Show is exactly like the anarchic "live studio audience" specials Beck used to have when he was on Fox.
This is the Trump movie. It reminded me a little of Obama and Palin when I first saw it, but Trump essentially did the same stuff as Rhodes, only he got away with it and it took him even further.
