Greatest Last Lines in Movie History
I nominate this one. Can anyone else think of any others?
"Madness. Madness..."

I think the arguing over "The Maltese Falcon" and "Chinatown" is pointless. They might as well be the last line, the other stuff is irrelevant to the story.
Here's another (not quite the last line, but close):
"He has his father's eyes." -Rosemary's Baby
The horror... the horror...
Two of the greatest last lines were delivered by Paul Muni. In The Good Earth,
as his wife is dying, he says, "You are the earth". Also, One of the greatest last lines in film history comes from " I am a fugitive" inthe context of what
has gone before. When his girl asks him "how do you live?, he says I STEAL!!!
Some others:
"There's a lot to be said for making people laugh! Did you know that's all some people have? It isn't much, but it's better than nothing in this cockeyed caravan! Boy!" -Sullivan's Travels
"What do you want, a happy ending?" -The Paleface
"Hey, Stella! Hey, Stella!" -A Streetcar Named Desire
"Robert E. Lee Prewitt. Isn’t that a silly old name?" -From Here to Eternity
"Look, you fools. You're in danger. Can't you see? They're after you. They're after all of us. Our wives, our children, everyone. They're here already. YOU'RE NEXT!" -Invasion of the Body Snatchers (I know it's technically not the last line, but it's the line Don Siegel wanted to the the last, so...)
"Let's go home, Debbie." -The Searchers
- "What's your name?"
- "Davis."
- "My name's McCardle. Well, so long."
- "So long." -12 Angry Men
"And I felt His voice take the sword out of my hand." - Ben-Hur
The horror... the horror...
I have a bunch of last lines I love:
'Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown.' -Chinatown
'Boy...' -Phantasm
'You met me at a very strange time in my life.' -Fight Club
'The stuff dreams are made of.'
'Huh?' -The Maltese Falcon
'One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach...all the damn vampires' -The Lost Boys
'The horror... the horror...' -Apocalypse Now
'You know, I use to hate the water.'
'I can't imagine why...' -Jaws
'I'd really love to stay and chat, but I'm having an old friend for dinner... Goodbye, Clarice.' -The Silence of the Lambs
'... Now, where was I?' -Memento
'Hail to the King, baby!' -Army of Darkness
'Hey, Blondie!!! You know what you are?! Just a no good, dirty son of a b--!' -Il Buono, Il Brutto, Il Cattivo (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly)
'Mein Fuhrer, I can walk!!!' -Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
'Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads!' -Back to the Future
'Dr. Hammond, after careful consideration, I have decided not to endorse your park.'
'So have I, Mr. Grant.' -Jurassic Park
'You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?'
'Yeah, he told me you're gay.'
*BANG!*
Got another one:
"There are eight million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them." - The Naked City
The horror... the horror...
"Frankie, your mother forgives me!" THE INFORMER
"The son-of-a-bitch stole my watch." THE FRONT PAGE (1974 version)
"We're fighting for this woman's honor, which is more than she ever did."

When the leader is talking about how he is closer to the end of his life, and how he wants the bridge to be remembered in years to come.
sharewhy no one mentioned this classic last lines form Blood Simple?
Abby: [after shooting Visser] I'm not afraid o' you, Marty.
Private Detective Visser: [laughing hysterically] Well, ma'am, if I see him, I'll sure give him the message.
It wasn't the airplanes. T'was beauty killed the beast--King Kong
You maniacs! You blew it up! Damn you. God damn you all to hell.--Planet of the Apes
As a matter of fact, it was--Halloween
Then he's still there--Friday the 13th
--------------------------------
I did sixty in five minutes once...
"You bas----ds!!!!" from BATAAN (at least, I THINK that's what Robert Taylor is yelling as he fires his machine gun at the advancing Japanese soldiers. But the gunfire and swelling music pretty much drown out his voice)
"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"
Looks like I'm replying to myself!
DEAD END: the Dead End Kids walk offscreen singing, "If I had the wings of an angel, over these prison walls I would fly..."
SCHOOL DAZE: "Please wake up."
THE ROAD TO UTOPIA: "We adopted." (has to be seen in context of an elderly Dorothy Lamour and Bob Hope, long-married, introducing their adult son to an elderly Bing Crosby, who supposedly had been killed in an avalanche decades earlier. Of course, the "kid" looks just like Crosby!)
"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"
Haven´t read the whole thread, but I think that nobody has mentioned "Planet of the apes" so far:
"I damn you"
which is kind of funny, when you consider that it is the opther great movie based on a Pierre Boulle´s novel and the striking resemblance with the last scene of TBRK.
