Greatest Last Lines in Movie History
I nominate this one. Can anyone else think of any others?
"Madness. Madness..."

Totally forgot this one. I think it is my favorite:

shareGone With The Wind - Frankly my dear I don't give a damn.
The Bridge on the River Kwai - Madness. Madness...
To Kill a Mockingbird - He would be in Jem's room all night, and he would be there when Jem waked up in the morning.
Kramer vs. Kramer - I came here to take my son home. And I realized he already is home.
The Shawshank Redemption - I hope.
Titanic - Three years, I've thought of nothing except Titanic; but I never got it... I never let it in.
Platoon.
Chris Taylor: [voiceover] I think now, looking back, we did not fight the enemy; we fought ourselves. The enemy was in us. The war is over for me now, but it will always be there, the rest of my days. As I'm sure Elias will be, fighting with Barnes for what Rhah called "possession of my soul." There are times since, I've felt like a child, born of those two fathers. But be that as it may, those of us who did make it have an obligation to build again. To teach to others what we know, and to try with what's left of our lives to find a goodness and a meaning to this life.
The Kubrick films mentioned earlier all had great ending lines.
Kill Bill Vol. 1:
"Does she know her daugher is still alive?"
In my opinion, the best cliffhanger in cinematic history.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas:
Although it wasn't the last line in the book, it fits in well ...
"Just another freak, in the freak kingdom."
In chronological order:
City Lights: "Yes, I can see now."
King Kong: "It wasn't airplanes; it was beauty killed the beast."
Wizard of Oz: "Aunty Em, there's no place like home."
Grapes of Wrath: "That's what makes us tough. Rich fellas come up and they die and their kids ain't no good, and they die out. But we keep a-comin'. We're the people that live. They can't wipe us out. They can't lick us. And we'll go on forever, Pa 'cause we're the people."
Maltese Falcon: "It's the stuff that dreams are made of."
Casablanca: "Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
It's a Wonderful Life: "Attaboy Clarence."
Rashomon: "No, I'm grateful to you. Because, thanks to you, I think I will be able to keep my faith in men."
Sunset Boulevard: "All right Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up.”
Streetcar Named Desire: "Hey Stella!"
Shane: "Come back Shane."
Vertigo: "God have mercy."
Some Like it Hot: "Well, nobody's perfect."
The Apartment: "Shut up and deal."
Psycho: "Why, she wouldn't even harm a fly."
Dr Strangelove: "Mein Fuehrer, I can walk!"
2001: "Except for a single, very powerful radio emission aimed at Jupiter, the four million year old black monolith has remained completely inert, its origin and purpose still a total mystery."
A Clockwork Orange: "I was cured all right."
Chinatown: "Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown" ... ignoring the background stuff.
Annie Hall: "I thought of that old joke, you know, this guy goes to a psychiatrist and says, 'Doc, uh, my brother's crazy, he thinks he's a chicken,' and the doctor says, 'Well why don't you turn him in?' And the guy says, 'I would, but I need the eggs.' Well, I guess that's pretty much now how I feel about relationships. You know, they're totally irrational and crazy and absurd - but uh, I guess we keep going through it...because...most of us need the eggs."
Apocalypse Now: "The horror... The horror."
ET: "I’ll be right here."
Goodfellas: "I'm an average nobody. I get to live the rest of my life like a schnook."
Silence of the Lambs: "I do wish we could chat longer, but I'm having an old friend for dinner. Bye."
Shawshank: "I hope."
The Usual Suspects: "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, he's gone."
American Beauty: "You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry: you will someday."
Network: "This was the story of Howard Beale, who was the network news anchorman
on UBS-TV, the first known instance of a man being killed because he
had lousy ratings."
Unfortunately, Preston Sturges is known to relatively few today. As a writer/director of comedy, he was the Woody Allen of the early '40s, minus the existential angst and with possibly even more sheer talent. In his sublime The Lady Eve, William Demarest, slinking out of a stateroom on a luxury liner, looks into the camera and closes the film: "Positively the same dame!" The only way to understand the utter perfection of the line is to watch the preceding ninety minutes. The only closing lines that might match this one are from Casablanca and Some Like It Hot.
shareTwo of the best final lines are:
The Heiress "Yes, I can be very cruel. I have been taught by masters."
Dodsworth "Love has got to stop some place short of suicide."
"Tessie" is the Royal Rooters rally cry.
"Tessie" is the tune they always sung.
The Roaring Twenties: Gladys George: "He used to be a big shot."
Angels With Dirty Faces: Pat OBrien: "Lets say a prayer for a boy who couldn't run as fast as I could."
That is a great one...and an excellent picture too.
"You let me worry about that Green Beret. You're what this is all about." - The Green Berets.
A River Runs Through It- "the water is my horror."
1984- "He loved big brother"
Stalag 17- "Maybe he just wanted to steal our wire cutters, did you ever think of that?"
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
"The unknown future rolls t'wards us. I face it for the first time with a sense of hope. Because if a machine - a Terminator - can learn the value of human life... maybe we can, too."
I'd put Apocalypse Now ahead of this for sure, its one of those films that just stays with you down to its last lines.
Last film seen: Mulholland Drive 10/10

Nigel Tufnel: [on what he would do if he couldn't be a rock star] Well, I suppose I could, uh, work in a shop of some kind, or... or do, uh, freelance,uh, selling of some sort of, uh, product. You know...
Marty DiBergi: A salesman?
Nigel Tufnel: A salesman, like maybe in a, uh, haberdasher, or maybe like a, uh, um... a chapeau shop or something. You know, like, "Would you... what size do you wear, sir?" And then you answer me.
Marty DiBergi: Uh... seven and a quarter.
Nigel Tufnel: "I think we have that." See, something like that I could do.
Marty DiBergi: Yeah... you think you'd be happy doing something like-...
Nigel Tufnel: "No; we're all out. Do you wear black?" See, that sort of thing I think I could probably... muster up.
