Porter, Texas

There is a real Porter, Texas. An unincorporated community of about 25,000 near Houston. It's a lot closer to the Gulf and Louisiana than to the Mexican border, contrary to the impression one gets from watching the show that it's on the northwest frontier (as in "Frontier Battalion, Company A"). But, of course, the choice of name wasn't necessarily done on the basis of historical accuracy.

One recently watched episode was definitely in El Paso's neck of the woods (in WEST Texas) and another was set in Del Rio and Laredo, not as far west but squarely on the Mexican border; this would certainly fit the focus of the Frontier Battalion. So it does indeed seem that the "Porter, Texas" of the show was NOT near the real Porter, Texas.

Are you saying it looked like they filmed on location in West Texas?
They list a couple of movie ranches outside of L.A. as filming locations?

reply

No, I was just commenting on the plausibility of the ostensible location for the particular episodes.
