TCOT Lucky Loser

At the beginning of The Case of the Lucky Loser, wife Patricia Medina warned hubbie Bruce Bennett about the dangers in travelling through the Sierra Madre Mountains on a business trip. Bennett should know--in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, he stumbled upon Bogart's group of gold prospectors and was killed by banditos. SPOILER AHEAD--in TCOT Lucky Loser, Bennett was murdered before he left for the Sierra Madre.

It's just as well. If he had made it to the mountains, either the bandidos would have killed him, or Humphrey Bogart, Tim Holt, and Walter Huston would have all gunned him down.

Ray Burr through his powerful persona Perry Mason almost always gets the upper hand in a mano-a-mano confrontation with suspects, the DA, police. But in Lucky Loser he met his match in Douglas Kennedy, who played an unscrupulous "launderer" of a rich family's dirty linen. The powerfully built Kennedy with a bulldozer personality was the TV version of Robert Ryan whom he faintly resembled.

reply

That's the episode where I first noticed Kennedy, then duscovered he was in other episodes.
