Telling Della-Perry Episode

TCOT Careless Kidnapper was the first episode I watched after learning of Ms. Hale's death. Barbara Hale's role wasn't remarkable or revealing except for the fadeout. Dressed to the nines, Perry and Della are about to enter a home but decide not to attend the party within. Instead, Perry suggests to a luminous and very willing Della to "go night clubbing and dance until dawn." How and where they spent the following morning--his place or hers--is open to speculation.

This episode is legendary among "Perry Mason" fans for that scene. Della tells Perry that she doesn't remember the last time she danced until dawn, and since TCOT Careless Kidnapper is one of the last episodes broadcast in Season 7, there is palpable wistfulness in her words: six years have passed since they began as a team.

Few episodes of the series hint at a relationship between Perry and Della more strongly than this.

In addition to Careless Kidnapper for a telling episode, there was TCOT Larcenous Lady. That ending was Della asking "What about US?" after the client left the office. Perry's reply started out asking her to take notes in a business-like manner. He then dictates about the new French restaurant opening and describes the rack of lamb with mint sauce, lyonaisse potatoes, crepe suzette... 😘😍

Yep. Maybe there's still time on IMDB to do a Valentine's Day tribute to our dear Della.

Will be VERY sad for yet another loss. IMDB has meant a lot to me over the years.

Me also. I will miss my daily checking of the PM board and the other boards I frequent. I feel I have made a lot of friends on the imdb message boards and will miss the exchange of ideas I enjoy so much.

What a tribute to the talents of Hale and Burr who were able to develop the Della/Perry relationship so subtlety even though ESG was so against it .We all got it and hung on every word, glance and touch-and for many of us, it was what we watched the series for. I know I do and yes, the ""kidnapper" bump was the best!
Closing this board now is adding insult to injury.

This more than any other board, even though I no longer spend time here, is killing me. It's because of Barbara Hale's death.

A friend of mine who I worked with (Att in Los Angeles) in the late 70's was invited to a couple of Barbara and Bill Katt's parties. He said that they both were so gracious, down to earth folks. I was so envious of him. Never had the nerve to ask if I could go with him. Would have felt too embarrassed to even try.
I honestly feel like I lost a dear
friend with Barbara's passing.
