"Guatemala City"
When does "Guatemala City" happen?
About January to May/June/July of the year 18__.
Bret Maverick's girlfriend Ellen stands him up and disappears from San Francisco. Bret's sailor friend Sim signs on for a sea voyage that will last for three months. Calendar pages on screen flash through January, February, March, and April. Sim returns and tells Bret that he has seen Ellen in Guatemala City, the capital of Guatemala in Central America.
Bret travels to Guatemala City, travelling part of the way on a three masted schooner. Some unspecified time after arriving in Guatemala City Bret tells the US consul there that Ellen was seen in Guatemala City about three months ago, which might have been sometime in February, March, or April, thus putting his talk with the consul in May, June, or July.
So the events of "Guatemala City" take up four to seven months of a year that is probably in the 1870s but can't be 1876 according to "The Jeweled Gun".
Most Maverick episodes last just a few days, which is a good thing because a hundred Maverick episodes lasting an average of four to seven months would total four hundred to seven hundred months, or thirty three to fifty eight years.
If only twenty five Maverick episodes had an average length of four to seven months, those twenty five episodes would have a total length of eight to fourteen and a half years.
If only ten Maverick episodes had an average length of four to seven months, those ten episodes would have a total length of three and a third to six years.
So even without a number of episodes lasting several months each, there may be a problem fitting all the Maverick episodes together into consistent chronology. After all the west is an area of about 1,000 by 2,000 miles, and the Maverick brothers traveled all over it, and even beyond as in "Guatemala City".
So someone could take all the Maverick episodes which have stated dates and places, and then try to fit the travels of each Maverick into the spaces between and around them. And probably with the travel times in the historical west it would be hard to have the Mavericks make all their travels within few enough years that they wouldn't have aged a bit more than they were seen to.
