what are your thoughts? John Derek was a hunk in this movie. i didnt like when he was beaten by Baka. and Lilia was so beautiful i think debra paget did a good performance.

shareI couldn't honestly tell you if Debra Paget's performance was good or not, because I'm always too intoxicated by her exotic beauty to give an honest objective opinion about her performance. As long as Debra is on the screen, then it's a perfect scene BABY!
The amazing thing to me about Debra Paget is that she could be so exotically sexy in films like 'The Ten Commandments', 'Tiger of Bengal' and 'The Indian Tomb'. But, also be the down home, next door country girl in films like 'White Feather', and 'Love Me Tender'. Not a lot of actresses can be both a Mary Ann and Ginger type, and pull it off with equal sincerity. But, Debra definitely could. Although, she was a lot more effective in her exotic roles.
Speaking of Elvis' film debut 'Love Me Tender' that Debra co-starred in. I'm sure Elvis had Debra too. Damn you Elvis, damn you all to Hell!(I'm a little jealous)
John Derek on the other hand, turned out to be a real creep and border line pedophile who had an extra marital affair with Bo Derek when she was still 17 years old. But, you got to give the Devil his due and admit that John Derek in the mid-50's looked like he could possibly have been the most ruggedly handsome actor that has ever been filmed. To bad he turned out to be another Hollywood pervert.

I agree with just about everything you've said. Debra Paget was beyond gorgeous. All I can do is look at her and drool. And I have an unblemished record of staunch heterosexuality, yet I can still say that Derek was quite the hunk.
But Derek being a borderline pedo for going for a 17-year-old Bo? Nope. 17 years old is plenty old enough. Especially if that 17-year-old is Bo Derek.
Now, is it skeevy? Yup. It's exactly like that old dude from The Green Mile marrying that 17-year-old a few years back. Definitely skeevy. But pedo? Not a chance.
