Inquiry about Nefretiri
What exactly was her relationship to Sethi. She just sorta pops up and there's no explanation as to where she came from, (unless I missed that).

shareNefretiri was Rameses II's first and most beloved wife. Historically speaking, I don't believe scholars know exactly her origins as yet. So, DeMille's research and writing teams simply left the question unaddressed.
She was, however, thought to be a hereditary princess of Egypt, the daughter of a pharaoh. She may have been a sister, half-sister, or cousin of Rameses II, according to H. Noerdlinger, DeMille's head of research, per his research documentation on the film -- Moses and Egypt.
Okay. Thanks for the info.
shareWhen I was young I always thought she was Seti's daughter but that made no sense (to a kid) because Ramses was his son -- and they would not get married, right? Again, I was a kid. Later, I was told she was Seti's queen and that is why when se died she would be the queen of the next Pharaoh. That made a little more sense to me (at the time) ... but then I was told she wasn't a Queen yet (until Ramses) but a Princess ... so yeah, I was and still am slightly confused .... :D
shareThe movie never addresses who she is, and I assume it's because historically her background is unclear.
shareWith Egyptian royalty, it is best not to know the blood relations.
It was entirely possible, and probable, for the Pharaoh's wife to also be his sister or daughter, or any other female relative.
This was reflected in their gods. For example, the parents of the god, Horus, were the siblings, Osiris and Isis.
