Peck was Unbelievable in This!!!

Friends, I just got this movie on DVD for free from the library for 2 weeks. Today is about the 5th time in 3 days I've let it play, sometimes just in the background, and I must say rarely has an acting performance blown me away as much as Peck's portrayal of Ahab. Maybe it was just the big build-up to his introduction, but I for one fell for it. For fun, I like to imagine having to act very serious, or very insane roles to see if I even THINK I could. Peck's Ahab, I can tell you immediately, would require weeks of study and preperation. If anyone agrees about the magnitude of his performance, Cheers to you.

Pecks, acting in this movie is like fine wine. it only gets better."its a white whale i seek ,skin your eyes for him..." no one could deliver that line better.

I wouldn't accuse Peck of overacting. On the contrary, It's a generally restrained but effective performance. He projects much of the smoldering intensity for which Peck is known.

It's a highly emotional role but until the final one on one confrontation with the whale, Peck wisely keeps something in reserve.

Peck is awesome in this rendition of Moby Dick. I didn't even know he denounced his acting until a few months ago, and it doesn't make sense because he's great.

Here comes the future! Here it is! Gee, it was a lot like the past.

Totally agree. I love the build up and the thing is, it didn't disappoint. He topped the build up!
