Creepy Kids
His children are like his kid he would have later in The Omen.
What do you think was the movie saying about their constant comments on death?

I just think the discussions about death were intended to set the tone of desperation and financial need. The family led a comfortable working class or lower middle class lifestyle but they were not at all affluent.
Certainly it was creepy for the movie to open with the daughter suffering from chicken pox, the son wishing for all of his family members to die and the wife complaining that their house was ugly and defeating to their dreams. The wife also stated that she felt that her husband had lost his guts and that she was suddenly ashamed of him.
The husband had been through a war and some economic losses in his family so he just wanted to keep his secure job, enjoy a regular life and not concern himself about becoming affluent.

LOL. You obviously don't know me at all or you wouldn't say that. I know it very well and all from first hand experience.

Wow! It's amazing how you created a straw argument when you had no valid point. Re-read the thread. I did not state that I grew up in a house like the one in the movie. You are assuming too much and trying too hard to start a pseudo debate. Let's end this right now. Have a good day!

Yes, they are a strange family. Was very daring to portray that in the mid-1950's
when "Father Knows Best", "Leave it to Beaver", "The Donna Reed Show, "Ozzie & Harriet", and the likes were the wholesome standards for American families on TV. They were definitely a dysfunctional family when we meet them, but hopefully getting better at the end. That is why family values are stressed over career goals, this family needs a lot of TLC.
