Would it have been as good without the voiceover narration?


Eddie Mueller said Kubrick didn't want it. I think it worked. It helped me keep the action straight.

For the most part, it worked. However, there was at least one time it seemed pointless. The camera showed the racetrack bar crowded with patrons, and the narrator said something like "It got busy at the bar, and there were a lot of customers". Thanks, Captain Obvious!
