pulling off a great heist as hard as making a great film?

Did anyone else get the impression that Kubrick was implying that the amount of planning and creativity that goes into creating a great heist was similar to the amount required to make a great film, and that Kubrick had a begrudging respect for great criminals?

Since the days of Jason joining up with the Argonauts to retrieve The Golden Fleece, the hero assembling a band of followers to pursue a dangerous quest has been a stock plot. For the film maker, the golden fleece is to make
an honest profit and win glory by pleasing others. The criminal is however after a dishonest profit at the expense of others, even of their lives. His ingenuity only fascinates us because we too would like a battered suitcase holding two million dollars.

Kubrick probably did feel that way.

What do you think the teacher's gonna look like this year?
