The Killing is a great film but I don't consider it Kubrick's best. 2001 is his best, in my opinion. I think The Killing is probably Kubrick's sixth best.
shareI wouldn't call it his best but The Killing, as all of Kubricks work, was a groundbreaking piece of Cinema. Not just it being non linear, but how it was done, it influenced a generation of Filmmakers that we know and love today. QT, PT Anderson, The Coen Bros just to name a few... You can look right at this film as the inspiration of so much of their work. The Shining is my personal favorite but most of his work is close together as far as "Best to Worst"
shareIt's not his best work, but I can see why anyone would pick this as their favorite. Personally, I like it better than A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, Paths of Glory, and probably 2001.
Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!
I think you missed the point of this thread as clearly stated MY OPINION OF THIS FILM
am I right/am i wrong who knows who cares
So why did you post this message here if you don't want anyone to discuss it?
"facts are stupid things" - Ronald Reagan
In his address to the 1988 Republican National Convention, Ronald Reagan introduced a section of his speech with the words:
"Before we came to Washington, Americans had just suffered the two worst back-to-back years of inflation in 60 years. Those are the facts, and as John Adams said, ?Facts are stubborn things.?"
This paragraph, and the following four paragraphs, finished with Adams?s words. However, at the end of the third paragraph, Reagan made a verbal slip, which he immediately corrected. A transcript of the speech reads,
"Facts are stupid things ? stubborn things, should I say. [Laughter]."
However, despite its origin as a slip of the tongue, "Facts are stupid things" has taken on a life of its own in the world of quotations by those ignorant of... the facts.
"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence."
-- John Adams
The Killing is great. But no way is it better than Dr Strangelove, The Shining and/or Lolita.
shareAGREED -- that is your opinion of the film.
