So many of my favorite character actors in this film like Jay C Flippen and Ted de Corsia. and the narrator was Art Gilmore who Dragnet and Adam 12 fans know as the tall, thin man who usually played a LAPD captain. I read that Bay Meadows, the track where the racing scenes were filmed , is no more. It was torn down to make way for new housing. I love the extensive on location shooting.

The great part about the narration is that it's all bull ship. Kubrick didn't want it, so he pulled one of his first (Of MANY) tricks on the Film World/Hollywood etc. The rest is Film-Noir Perfection... All for $320k. Yes, Huston and many others were crafting gem after gem but when you watch this, it's oddly different than the rest. It has a charm that distinguished it from the hundreds of other "Similar" films.
