The Becky thing at the end (Spoilers clearly)

i don't get how that happened. It was originally the pods took your memories and minds while you were asleep, woke up and then probably killed you (this is never made clear but it's my explanation), so how is it that Becky slept for like a few minutes and then she was a pod person, i think that maybe there was a pod inside the mine they were hiding in and it was copying her, when she went to sleep it completed and killed her, then threw her body under the floorboards. But that would happen far too quickly and the pods appear to take a day or two... maybe they were evolving, it was a great movie until that point which messed it up a bit.

I don't think they messed up. This topic had been discussed a lot. My theory is when the pod already starts forming you, no matter if you wake up, it still has part of you, basically you're dead when it starts. Let's say you wake up 50% into the process the pod has absorbed half of your mind, and if you fall asleep again the process continues on. As for the body, it probably deteriorate. In the 1993 movie, the old body turns to rot.

I've asked a similar question -- because until it happened to Becky, the pods were all set up in locations where people lived. since Becky was running away, how did the pod get set up to replace her?

There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to the locations of the pods in these stories. They seem to be wherever the writer of a scene wants them to be. For example in the 1978 version what was the point of growing all those pods in a greenhouse if they just sort of grow everywhere like weeds?

My best guess is that even though it seems to us like he was only gone a minute because a movie is only so long in the story he was gone longer maybe half an hour when he was spying on the greenhouses where the pods were being grown and that there happened to be a nearby pod in the cave that body snatched his girlfriend while he was gone, and the body snatched version of his girlfriend put on the clothes of the now dead woman but from our perspective it looked like she got "possessed" or something?

I would like to know what the "rules" are for these stories. Are there safe places to sleep where there are no pods?

The people chasing them into the cave (remember how they hid under the boards in the floor?) probably did it (placed pods there). I assumed they placed some pods somewhere in the cave before leaving to look elsewhere...
